Our previous concert: A Night in Vienna, Season Finale, May 18th 2013 at the Broomfield Auditorium

The final concert of the 2012-2013 season transported our audience to a Night of waltzes, polkas, and songs from Vienna.  The concert featured the musical talents of our 2013 Youth Concerto Competition winners Eloise Hodges, violin, and Andrew Peeples, cello, along with guest vocalist Lee Ann Scherlong, all conducted by Broomfield Symphony Music Director David Brussel.

Here is what one concert-goer took the time to send to us after our Thursday evening performance:

GREAT MUSIC played by SKILLED MUSICIANS - DESERVES AN AUDIENCE

One of the "best kept secrets" in Broomfield, CO is the Broomfield Symphony.  As a retired musician, I've had the pleasure of hearing MANY fine orchestras.  Broomfield Symphony is one of the finest Community Orchestras in the country.  I attended their latest offering - A NIGHT IN VIENNA - and I am compelled to report that this was worthy of the great music of that beautiful city in Austria.

The melodies of Strauss & Lehar came to elegant life once again under the masterful baton of David Brussel.  The orchestra, all playing for the pure joy of the music, navigated through the tricky passages with percussion bangs & pops, tempo hesitations, accelerandos, rallentandos etc. in the true Strauss style.

If you've ever listened to the famous New Year's Eve presentations from Vienna; last night's performance was equally exhilarating. I particularly enjoy this music as a great memory of my visit to Vienna and enjoying a concert at the "Vienna Kursalon."  After last night's concert, I had an overpowering craving for a "Sacher Torte."

YOU ARE IN LUCK!  You can still get a ticket to experience this wonderful concert.  The "encore" performance is Saturday evening, 7:00 PM at the Broomfield Auditorium (located next to the Broomfield Library.)

This is one concert you simply MUST attend! - - - - - - - - -Congratulations on an OUTSTANDING performance.

ONE MORE ACCOLADE!!  The outstanding soloists from last night's concert:

  • Mezzo-Soprano Lee Ann Scherlong was delightful as she presented "Velia" - (The Merry Widow) by Franz Lehar and "Vienna, City of My Dreams" by Rudolf Sieczyński.

  • Two soloists, winners of the BSO Youth Concerto Competition, Violinist Eloise Hodges and Cellist Andrew Peeples presented AMAZING performances.  Their technique and playing skills were thrilling to watch and hear.

Another excellent aspect of what BSO offers to the community.

Now you know you MUST attend the concert.  DON'T MISS THIS!!

Thank you Ray from everyone at the BSO, it was wonderful to receive your message today!  We look forward to entertaining you and our other guests in the new season.
